Match: Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes (PS vs HH)
Date: January 12, 2021
Venue: Perth Stadium – Perth, Australia
The Perth Scorchers have roared back to form, with wins in their last four games. Hobart Hurricanes, on the other hand, had an excellent start to this edition of the Big Bash League, but have lost their way of late. Perth have been on fire with the ball in hand, with players such as Jhye Richardson, Jason Benhrendorff and Andrew Tye spitting venom with the new ball and making full use of the friendly conditions at their home venue. Their batting has been top class as well, especially since the arrival of their English players Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone. Colin Munro, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh and Ashton Turner have been phenomenal with the bat in hand, and they will be eager to get over the line against a struggling Hobart side.
The Hurricanes have lost their last two games but boast of a strong unit nonetheless. Ben McDermott, D’Arcy Short, Dawid Malan, Colin Ingram and Peter Handscomb are all danger batsmen on their day, but have blown hot and cold this season. Nathan Ellis, Sandeep Lamichhane and Johan Botha will lead the bowling duties.
The day is likely to be warm and clear with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will be in the mid thirties.
Pitch Report of PS vs HH:
The track here will have plenty of bounce and pace. The pacers will get plenty of help here, but the batters can get runs if they get their eye in.
The team that will look to bat first as chasing is not the easiest here. TNo team has won a game while chasing at this venue this season.
PS Expected XI and Team News
The Perth Scorchers will miss the services of big hitter Colin Munro, who injured himself during the last game. Joe Clarke has been added in his place in the squad that will face Hobart Hurricanes.
Jason Roy: The English cricketer has been brilliant at the top for the team. Though he has not got big runs, he has been giving his team aggressive starts. He will be eager to get a match winning score here.
Jhye Richardson: The fast bowler has been among the wickets, and ended with the Man of the Match award in the last game. The conditions here at the Perth Stadium will suit him.
Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Josh Inglis (wk), Joe Clarke, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner (c), Aaron Hardie, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Fawad Ahmed
HH Expected XI and Team News
The Hobart Hurricanes have not made any changes to their squad that will take on Perth Scorchers. They might field the same XI as well.
D’Arcy Short: The batsman has not been in the best of forms this season, but had scored an unbeaten ton when the two teams had last met. He is too good a player to not bounce back soon.
Dawid Malan: The number one batsman in T20Is in the world, Dawid Malan will be eager to play a good hand in the upcoming game.
Ben McDermott (wk), D’Arcy Short, Dawid Malan, Colin Ingram, Tim David, Peter Handscomb (c), Macalister Wright, Nathan Ellis, Scott Boland, Sandeep Lamichhane, Nick Winter

WK: ABen McDermott has scored 299 runs this season at an average of nearing 50, and will be the key yet again for the Hobart Hurricanes. Josh Inglis has scored 156 runs in his last four games, and will be eager to continue his form.
Batsmen: Jason Roy has been getting starts, and has been batting aggressively as well. Though he has not scored many runs, he should never be overlooked. Dawid Malan is the best batsman in T20I at the moment. He has played 5 games this BBL, scoring 175 runs.
All-rounders: Mitchell Marsh has picked up 4 wickets in the tournament and has been leading the way with the bat. He has amassed 187 runs this season, and has been the ideal finisher for his side. He has picked up 6 wickets with the ball in this edition.
Bowlers: Jhye Richardson has picked up 17 wickets this edition, and will want to add to his tally in friendly conditions. Andrew Tye has picked up 10 wickets, and the two have been leading the charge with the new ball. Riley Meredith and Nathan Ellis both have picked up 12 wickets this season, and have been crucial upfront in a team that has an inexperienced fast bowling attack.
Captain and VC: Ben McDermott and Dawid Malan
Match Prediction for PS vs HH:
Both teams have danger players, but, on paper, Perth Scorchers are the firm favourites to win the game. The injury to Colin Munro might be a big setback, but they have players in their ranks who can raise their game and get Scorchers on the line yet again.
