Match: Royal Challenger Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals (RCB vs DC)
Date:October 05, 2020
Venue: Dubai Cricket Stadium – Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals find themselves on the top half of the table, and are the team to beat this season. RCB will be pleased with their bowling performance this year – a department that has been their Achilles Heel for long. Yuzvendra Chahal, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli all are in top form, and it would be interesting to see how they fare against an equally strong Delhi side.
Delhi, on the other hand, too have just one loss this season and will come into the game on the back of a convincing win against Kolkata Knight Riders. Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan are all in top form, while their bowling is one of the best in the edition. In Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, they have the best death over bowlers, while Ravi Ashwin and Amit Mishra will be the key as well on this track.
A hot day with temperatures near 40 degrees awaits. There will hardly be any breeze, and a humid day is on the cards.
The ground here has been decent for batting, but spinners have come into the game in the latter half. The wicket tends to slow down as the match progresses, and a target of 175 should be par.
The team that wins the toss will be looking to bat first. All teams that have chased here have lost the game, which indicates how crucial the toss will be.
RCB Expected XI and Team News
RCB have won their last two games, and there is no reason to change their line-up. There is no update on Chris Morris’ injury yet.
Virat Kohli: The Indian skipper came back to form with a fine 72 against Rajasthan Royals, and will be the key yet again. He will anchor the middle order, so players like de Villiers and Finch can play their natural game.
Yuzvendra Chahal: The RCB spinner has 8 wickets thus far, with three in the last game. He will find the conditions in Dubai to his liking, and will be vital if RCB want to get the better of DC.
Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers (wk), Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Shivam Dube, Washington Sunder, Navdeep Saini, Adam Zampa/Moeen Ali, Isuru Udana, Yuzvendra Chahal
DC Expected XI and Team News
Delhi brought in Ravi Ashwin for Axar Patel against KKR, while Harshal Patel came in for Ishant. Harshal picked up two wickets and is likely to retain his spot. DC is likely to go in unchanged as well.
Shreyas Iyer: The DC skipper scored a fine 88 against KKR and returned to form. He will have the responsibility of taking his side to a strong position yet again.
Anrich Nortje: The South African picked up 3 wickets against KKR, and stalled the run flow in the death overs. He will be looking to pitch in with another match-winning performance.
Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shimron Hetmyer, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Marcus Stoinis, Amit Mishra, Ravi Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Harshal Patel
Head to head record of RCB vs DC:
Royal Challengers Bangalore have a superior head to head record against Delhi Capitals in the history of the IPL, winning 14 of the 23 games between the two sides. Delhi have won 8, while one match ended in a No Result.
MPL Fantasy Prediction for RCB vs DC:
WK: Rishabh Pant showed glimpses of what he is capable of in the last game, and will be looking to get a big knock here against RCB. AB de Villiers has fired this season, and is one of the most dangerous players if he gets going. He took the team over the line in the last game, and will be looking to contribute yet again.
Batsmen: Virat Kohli got back to form in the last game, and scored an unbeaten fifty to take his team over the line against Rajasthan Royals. Devdutt Padikkal smashed a fifty, and has been one of the most impressive youngsters, as has Prithvi Shaw, who scored a quickfire cameo against KKR. Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 88 in the last game, and will be looking to continue his form.
All-rounders: Marcus Stoinis has been vital to Delhi’s chances this season. He scored a quick 50 against Kings XI Punjab in the opener, and has been pitching in with regular wickets as well.
Bowlers: Kagiso Rabada along with Anrich Nortje have been Delhi’s go-to bowlers this season, impressing in both the powerplay and the death overs. Rabada has one of the most lethal yorkers in the game, while Nortje picked up a three-wicket haul against KKR. Yuzvendra Chahal is the current Purple Cap holder and will find the conditions in Dubai to his liking. Navdeep Saini has impressed this season with his yorkers and his bowling in the death.
Captain and VC: AB de Villiers and Rishabh Pant
Match Prediction for KXIP vs CSK:
Both teams have been in great touch this season, but we back Delhi to go all the way. They have a superior bowling attack, with Rabada, Nortje, Ashwin and Mishra in their ranks. RCB do not have the best death over bowlers, with only Saini impressing thus far, and it could come back to haunt them yet again.
Delhi Capitals are the favourites to win.
