RCB vs KKR, IPL 2020: MPL Fantasy Preview, Match Predictions, Probable XI

Match: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders (RCB vs KKR)

Date:October 12, 2020

Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium – Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

Both KKR and RCB have four wins and two losses in IPL 2020 thus far, and will be looking to continue their winning momentum. RCB bounced back strongly in their last game against CSK, with skipper Virat Kohli smashing an unbeaten 90 from just 52 balls to help his team post 169 for 4. In reply, Chris Morris, playing his first IPL 2020 game, picked up 3 for 19 to help RCB to a win by 37 runs.

KKR, on the other hand, too will come into the clash after a narrow 2-run win. Dinesh Karthik smashed a fine 58 in 29 balls as his team managed 164 for 6 on the board. Prasidh Krishna picked up 3 for 29 as Punjab stumbled. KKR will be worried by the knee injury to Andre Russell that he suffered while fielding against Punjab. The West Indian did not bowl in the game and did not return to the field either. Spinner Sunil Narine has been reported for a suspect action as well, and while he can continue bowling, another warning will mean a suspension.

Weather Update:

A hot and humid evening awaits at Sharjah. It will be a dry and a clear evening with hardly any breeze.

Pitch Report:

The ground in Sharjah is the smallest in the UAE and we have seen plenty of runs being scored here. Another game with plenty of runs on offer awaits.

Toss Prediction:

The toss will be important as the wicket here will get slower in the second half. Chasing will not be the easiest, and the team that wins the toss will be looking to bat first.

RCB Expected XI and Team News

RCB got Chris Morris into the XI for Moeen Ali. The South African impressed with a three-wicket haul and is expected to continue in the team. They are unlikely to make any changes.

Key players:

Virat Kohli: The Team India skipper has got back to his best after a few quiet games. He has a seventy, a forty and an unbeaten 90 in his last three innings, which shows the form that he is in.

AB de Villiers: The wicket-keeper was out for a second ball duck in the last game. However, he has two fifties in the edition thus far, and will be looking to score plenty of runs on this wicket.

Predicted XI:

Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, Yuzvendra Chahal, Gurkeerat Singh, Navdeep Saini

KKR Expected XI and Team News

There is no update on Russell’s injury and whether he will be available for the game. If he misses out, KKR might slot in either Chris Green or Lockie Ferguson in his place. Tom Banton might be an option as well.

Key Players:

Shubman Gill: The 21-year old hit 57 in the last game and now has 213 from 6 games. He has two fifties and a 47 thus far, and will be looking for another big score.

Eoin Morgan: The English skipper has moved up and down the order in IPL 2020, but has impressed with quick knocks. He will be looking to get a big knock at a venue that will aid his power hitting.

Predicted XI:

Shubman Gill, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Andre Russell/Tom Banton/Chris Green, Dinesh Karthik (c, wk), Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Prasidh Krishna, Rahul Tripathi, Varun Chakravarthy

Head to head record of RCB vs KKR:

KKR have won 15 games against RCB in the 25 matches that the two teams have played. RCB ended a five-match losing streak against KKR in the last game the two played last year, however. Virat Kohli had smashed 100 in 58 balls in that game as RCB managed 213 in 20 overs. KKR could score 203 for 5.

MPL Fantasy Prediction for RCB vs KKR:

WK: AB de Villiers is one of the most dangerous players if he gets going. Mr. 360, as he is called, has an array of shots at his disposal, and can be a threat at the venue. Dinesh Karthik got back to form with a blazing fifty in the game against Punjab, and will want to continue his form.

Batsmen: Virat Kohli has more than 200 runs in his last three innings, and there is no reason that he should not be a part of the MPL fantasy team. Eoin Morgan has got a couple of important cameos this season, and will hope to get a big one here. Devdutt Padikkal is one of the most promising youngsters this season and has given RCB solid starts at the top of the order.

All-rounders: Andre Russell, if fit, will be the X-factor for KKR. He has been the team’s death overs bowler of late and will be eager to get back to form with the bat. Chris Morris picked up a three-wicket haul in the last game and can also pitch in with the bat, while Washington Sundar has been impressive and economical in the powerplay overs.

Bowlers: Pat Cummins has been economical, while Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been crucial for KKR in the middle overs. Yuzvendra Chahal is the most impressive RCB bowler thus far, and has kept things tight as well.

Captain and VC: Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell

Both teams are in excellent form and have four wins apiece. RCB are the slight favourites to win this game as KKR might miss Russell for this encounter. Their batting has not yet fired as a unit, while RCB are getting stronger with every match.
