Match: St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Guyana Amazon Warriors, (SKN vs GAW, 7th Match)
Date: September 4, 2022 – 7 PM AST / September 5 – 4:30 AM IST
Venue: Warner Park, Basseterre
Guyana Amazon Warriors will take on the defending champions St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in match no. 7 of the Caribbean Premier League 2022. The two teams will meet at Warner Park in Basseterre on Sunday, September 4th.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are yet to open their account this season after playing three matches. They lost the first two games while the most recent fixture against Trinbago Knight Riders was abandoned due to weather without a ball being Bowler.
Earlier, Patriots suffered a 47-run hammering at the hands of Jamaica Tallawahs in the season opener and then lost by seven wickets versus Barbados Royals in a rain-reduced 17 overs match. Andre Fletcher was the lone warrior in that contest, scoring 81 off 55 while the other batters and bowlers were mostly ineffective.
Guyana Amazon Warriors didn’t have a great start to their campaign either as they went down by four wickets against Jamaica Tallawahs. Batting first, they struggled to get any kind of momentum and could only manage 142/6. Shimron Hetmyer scored 39 but it took him 45 balls whereas Romario Shepherd smashed 36 off 17.
Their spinners did an exceptional job while defending the target, picking 4 for 56 in 12 overs. However, two pacers were taken apart. Tallawahs needed 39 off 18 when Shepherd was smashed for 23 runs as Warriors eventually lost with four balls remaining.
