Sri Lanka Women vs India Women, 1st T20I:

India women are all set to play three T20Is and as many ODIs on their tour of Sri Lanka. The tour will kick start with the two teams colliding in the first T20 international at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Thursday, June 23.

The T20 series offers both the teams a chance to start their preparations for the upcoming women’s T20 competition in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Sri Lanka women secured the final spot in the tournament earlier this year through Qualifiers. They topped the five-team competition with four out of four wins and defeated Bangladesh by 22 runs in the final game to book the spot. Last month, Sri Lanka played three T20Is in Pakistan, losing the series by 3-0.

India have faced three strong opponents in the last 12 months in the form of England, Australia and New Zealand. They lost by 2-1 on the England tour in July 2021 and were defeated by 2-0 in October on the Australia tour. Earlier this year, India lost a one-off T20I against New Zealand just before the ODI World Cup. Despite their record in recent times, India will start this series as overwhelming favourites.
