Chelsea will try to get back to winning ways when they face Southampton in the English Premier League on Saturday.
The Blues are destined to have a top four finish but a third place could be in danger as Tottenham Hotspur are just five points behind and are sniffing on their shoulder.
An unlikely loss at the hands of Brentford has complicated things for the blues while a crushing defeat against Real Madrid has further deepened the crisis for them.
Brentford showed Chelsea’s vulnerabilities as they exposed Thomas Tuchel’s tactics with four well made goals and the pressure will be on Chelsea to build back the momentum from now on.
Real Madrid had never beaten Chelsea in European competitions before that but Karim Benzema had some other plans. Two headers and an unprecedented error paved the way for the Spanish giants as the defending champions now have a mountain to climb in the second leg.
Southampton’s last win in the Premier League came against relegation candidate Norwich City and the Saints have had a very erratic season so far.
Survival won’t be an issue this time as they are comfortably sitting in the 12th place but their form has definitely gone downwards. James Ward-Prowse was again in the thick of things as his brilliant freekick helped his side to share the spoils with Leeds United in the last match.
Their defensive vulnerabilities will be put to test against Chelsea which has a very exciting attacking lineup.
Back to back home defeats have definitely cornered them but they will definitely fancy their chances against the backline which conceded 7 goals in the last two matches in all competitions.
Chelsea’s off field problems might have affected their on field performances but the players cannot allow their mindset to be affected by it and they need to be at their best as both Arsenal and Spurs are closing in on them.

Southampton Team News
The Saints will have a full string squad at their disposal barring Lynco who is still on the sidelines with an injury. Valentino Livramento will be eager to perform against his old club while Ward-Prowse’s set piece ability will be a treat to watch.
Chelsea Team News
Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi are absentees. Apart from that Chelsea don’t have any fresh injury concerns. Tuchel could rest some of his first team players in a bid to provide them with a much needed rest ahead of the second leg quarter final tie with Real Madrid.
Southampton possible starting lineup
Forster; Livramento, Salisu, Bednarek, Walker-Peters; Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Diallo; S. Armstrong; Adams, A. Armstrong
Chelsea possible starting lineup
Mendy; Christensen, Chalobah, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Kovacic, Jorginho, Alonso; Ziyech, Lukaku, Pulisic
Despite their recent problems, Chelsea are a good side and it would take a lot for the Saints to repeat Brentford’s feat in this match.
