SRH vs RR, IPL 2020: MPL Fantasy Preview, Match Predictions, Probable XI

Match: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals (SRH vs RR)

Date:October 11, 2020

Venue: Dubai Cricket Stadium – Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Sunrisers Hyderabad have won three and lost three but will come into the game high on confidence after a big win against Kings XI Punjab. Their openers Jonny Bairstow and David Warner got going in the match, but the problems with the middle order are yet to be sorted for Hyderabad. Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad have blown hot and cold, and it could pose a problem if the openers depart early. The injury to Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a massive blow too but they have players such as Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma and T Natarajan on the bench.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, started IPL 2020 with two successive wins but have gone downhill after that with four losses on the trot. Their batting has let them down, while the bowlers have not given adequate support to Jofra Archer.

Weather Update:

A hot day with temperatures near 40 degrees awaits. A sunny, humid and a clear Saturday awaits. A day game means that players will need to remain hydrated.

Pitch Report:

The ground in Dubai is a bat first wicket. Teams have found chasing difficult here, and spinners get plenty of help in the second half of the innings.

Toss Prediction:

Teams will want to put up runs on the board at the venue. Teams have a clear advantage at Dubai if they have batted first, with just one team winning while chasing. The skipper that wins the toss, thus, will be looking to set a target.

SRH Expected XI and Team News

SRH won their last game against Kings XI Punjab rather convincingly and are unlikely to tinker with a winning combination. Bhuvi Kumar has been ruled out of IPL 2020 but his replacement in the last game Sandeep Sharma did well and is expected to take the field yet again.

Key players:

David Warner: The Orange Cap winner last season has returned to form with two back to back fifties. He will want to continue his run, and can be a threat if he gets going.

Rashid Khan: The Afghan spinner has been excellent this season. He has picked up wickets in the middle overs and has been economical as well. He ended with 3 for 12 in the last game and will be a threat yet again, especially if SRH defend a target.

Predicted XI:

David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan

RR Expected XI and Team News

Rajasthan Royals made a number of changes to their XI against Delhi Capitals but the moves did not pay off. Ben Stokes has completed his quarantine but it is unlikely that he will be slotted into the XI right away. The Englishman has not played professional cricket for six weeks, and might be given time to get some practice before he is slotted into the XI.

Key Players:

Steven Smith: The RR skipper has had a few silent games with the bat, but can be backed to come good in this clash. Over the years, we have seen Smith raise his game when his side is under the pump and we can expect the same yet again.

Sanju Samson: The wicket-keeper started with two fifties in the first two games of IPL 2020 but has gone quiet since then. He has immense talent and will hope to come good.

Predicted XI:

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Smith (C), Sanju Samson, Mahipal Lomror, Rahul Tewatiya, Shreyas Gopal,, Tom Curran, Jofra Archer, Andrew Tye, Varun Aaron, Kartik Tyagi

Head to head record of SRH vs RR:

The two teams have played 11 games over the seasons, with hardly anything to choose between the two sides. SRH have won six matches, while RR have five wins to their name.

MPL Fantasy Prediction for SRH vs RR:

WK: Jos Buttler had smashed 70 a few games ago, and will be looking to get back to form in an important game. His English teammate Jonny Bairstow scored 97 in the last game, and will be the key at the top.

Batsmen: Yashasvi Jaiswal did not get going in the last game, but should be backed to come good against SRH. David Warner won the Orange Cap last season and comes into the game on the back of two successive fifties. Manish Pandey will be the key in the middle order.

All-rounders: Rahul Tewatia was the highest run-scorer in the last game against Delhi Capitals. He has also been picking up regular wickets in the middle overs. Abhishek Sharma has struck the ball a long way while finishing and is a young player waiting to explode.

Bowlers: Jofra Archer has been the pick of the RR bowlers. He picked up 3 for 24 in the last game, and can also pitch in with the bat. Rashid Khan has bowled economically and picked up 3 for 12 against Kings XI Punjab to take his tally to 9 wickets. T Natarajan has been impressive at the death with his yorkers, while Sandeep Sharma has varied his line and lengths well.

Captain and VC: Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairtsow

Match Prediction for SRH vs RR:

Both teams have blown hot and cold this season, but SRH have a slight advantage heading into the game. They convincingly defeated Punjab in the last game, and will carry that confidence against RR. Rajasthan have not played together as a unit thus far, and have a number of issues to resolve.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are the favourites to win.
