Match: Sri Lanka women vs India women (SL-W vs IND-W, 1st ODI)
Date: July 1, 2022 – 10:00 AM IST
Venue: Pallekele International Cricket Stadium
Indian women’s team will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series after wrapping up the three-match T20I series. This is India’s first overseas trip after the Women’s World Cup and will also be the first ODI series without Mithali Raj, who announced international retirement a few days ago. The three ODIs will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
India won the T20I series and will be looking to carry the momentum into the ODIs. They won the first T20I by 34 runs after defending 138 runs. This was followed by another win in the second T20I, where they chased down 126 in 19.1 overs. However, the visitors failed to register a whitewash as they lost the third and final T20I by seven wickets. Batting first, they put up 138 on the board, which the hosts chased down in 17 overs.
It can be noted that the three-match series is not a part of the ODI championship. But it will provide crucial experience and practice to both the teams. India’s new captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, will be eyeing a win in her first ODI series as skipper.
