The match no. 5 of the women’s Hundred 2022 will witness Northern Superchargers and London Spirit square off at Headingley. The two teams will clash at Superchargers’ home venue in Leeds on Sunday, August 14th.

Superchargers didn’t get off to a good start in the competition as they suffered a nine-wicket loss at the hands of Oval Invincibles. India’s Jemimah Rodrigues was terrific with the bat, scoring 51 off 32 balls whereas Laura Wolvaardt gave the finishing touches with 49 off 39. They managed to post 143/5 on the board. Defending the target, they had no answers to their former player Lauren Winfield-Hill (74* off 42) and Suzie Bates (46 off 34). Alice then wrapped things up with an 8-ball 25.

Like their counterparts, London Spirit also lost their opening fixture of the tournament, going down by six wickets against Southern Brave. Beth Mooney was sensational on her Hundred debut, smashing an unbeaten 97 in just 55 balls. Amelia Kerr played a supporting act of 37 off 27 as they posted 155/4. Defending the target, Danielle Gibson picked two wickets but the rest of the bowlers failed to make an impact as Danni Wyatt blew them away with 34-ball 65.

Jemimah Rodrigues: Batter, Northern Superchargers

Jemimah Rodrigues had scored 249 runs in seven innings in the previous edition of the Hundred, averaging 41.5 at a strike rate of 151. And she has begun this season with a bang as well, smashing 32-ball 51 in the opening game. Jemimah has scored over 2200 runs in the format at an average of 32 and strike rate of 122.

Beth Mooney: Batter, London Spirit

Arguably the best T20 batter in women’s cricket, Beth Mooney announced herself in the Hundred with a magnificent 97* off 55 balls, breaking the record for the highest score in the women’s Hundred. She was brilliant in the CWG as well, smashing 167 in the last three innings. Mooney has amassed over 6700 runs in the shorter format at an average of 37 while striking at 117.

Laura Wolvaardt: Batter, Northern Superchargers

Laura Wolvaardt started slow in the first game of the season but managed to make up for it with late blows, finishing on 49 in 39 balls. The South African batter has over 1700 runs in the format at an average of 25 while striking at 113, including nine fifty-plus scores.

Amelia Kerr: All-rounder, London Spirit

Amelia Kerr is a valuable asset to have with her all-round skill set. She did well with the bat in the last game, scoring 37 off 27 balls. She also picked a wicket although was expensive. Overall, Amelia has over 1700 runs at an average of 24 and strike rate of 113 while also picking 184 wickets at 5.60 economy.

Megan Schutt: Bowler, London Spirit

Megan Schutt is amongst the best seamers in women’s cricket. The Australian speedster was terrific in the knockout stages of the CWG, picking 3/20 and 2/27. Schutt didn’t get a wicket in the first game of this tournament but only conceded 22 runs in 20 balls. Schutt has 228 wickets in the format at 5.68 rpo.
