Southern Brave Women will take on London Spirit Women in the 2nd match of The Women’s Hundred Competition 2022 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on August 12.

Southern Brave were absolutely brilliant last year, topping the points table after the group stage. In the final, however, they lost to the Oval Invincibles, which was also their only loss of the season. London Spirit, on the other hand, won four games last season and lost as many, and subsequently missed out on a place in the eliminator.

When Southern Brave and London Spirit met last year, the Brave recorded a comfortable win. Batting first, the Heather Knight-led Spirit scored only 93 runs before being bundled out in 96 balls. The only significant contribution came from Tammy Beaumont, who scored 34 runs. For the Brave, Amanda-Jade Wellington was the best bowler with four wickets in her kitty. Chasing 94 runs to win, the Anya Shrubsole-led side wrapped up the chase with eight balls and seven wickets remaining. Danni Wyatt, Sophia Dunkley and Stafanie Taylor scored in 20s.

Sophia Dunkley – batter, Southern Brave

Sophie Dunkley was one of the best performers in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Hundred. She ended the 2021 season as its third-highest run-scorer, with 244 runs in nine innings at an average of 40.66 and strike rate of 141.86. Her performance played an instrumental role in Brave reaching the final of the tournament. In 31 T20 internationals for England, Brave has scored 305 runs at an average and strike rate of 20.33 and 112.13.

Tahlia McGrath – batter, Southern Brave

This year, Tahlia McGrath is replacing West Indies allrounder Stafanie Taylor in the Southern Brave team. She was named Player of the Series in the 2021-22 edition of The Women’s Ashes for scoring 225 runs and taking 11 wickets and most recently, she put up some incredible bowling performances at the Commonwealth Games, picking eight wickets in five games and also scoring an unbeaten 78 against Pakistan. McGrath has a wonderful batting strike rate of more than 153 in T20 internationals, and will now be looking to bat at the same strike rate in The Hundred.

Amanda-Jade Wellington – bowler, Southern Brave

Wellington picked up 14 wickets for Brave last year, which includes a four-wicket haul against London Spirit. She will now look to reproduce a similar performance against Spirit.  In eight T20 internationals, Wellington has 10 wickets at an economy rate of 5.60.

Beth Mooney – batter, London Spirit

A three-time World Cup winner, Beth Mooney is a must-have player in your fantasy cricket team. She scored a few match-winning knocks at the Commonwealth Games, including an unbeaten 70 against Pakistan and 61 against India. In all, she has scored 1893 runs in T20Is at a strike rate of 123.16.

Megan Schutt – bowler, London Spirit

Megan Schutt is one of the best bowlers in women’s international cricket. She picked up two wickets in the CWG 2022 final, before which she picked up three wickets against New Zealand in the semi-final. In all, she has 108 wickets in 84 T20Is.
