Last year’s runners-up Birmingham Phoenix went down by six wickets in their first match against Trent Rockets but made a quick turnaround to smash Southern Brave by 53 runs in the second. They have two points to their name with a terrific net run-rate of 1.122.
Will Smeed was the hero for Phoenix in the last game as he smashed the first ever hundred in the Hundred. Smeed blasted an unbeaten 101 in 50 balls to propel them to 176/4. Henry Brookes, another youngster, started with the ball, claiming 5 for 25 as they shot out Brave for 123.

The 22yr old fast bowler is looked at as a potential star in world cricket and he showed it why in the last game. Brookes bowled brilliantly against Brave, snaring 5 for 25 in 20 balls. He has a pretty good record in T20 cricket, with 45 scalps from 32 games at 15.1 strike rate.
