The second Test match between West Indies and Bangladesh will be played from at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia, from June 24-29. Hosts West Indies won the first Test by seven wickets to take an unassailable 1-0 lead.
Bangladesh were all out for only 103 runs in the first innings of the opening Test, with captain Shakib Al Hasan’s half-century being the only significant contribution from the batting line-up. For the home team, it was the pace trio of Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph that troubled the visitors, picking up eight wickets amongst themselves.
In reply to the 103, West Indies put up 265 runs on the board on the back of a half-century from skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood. Mehidy Hasan stood out with four wickets. In the second innings, Shakib Al Hasan scored another fifty to take his side to 245 but an unbeaten 58 from John Campbell took the Windies to an easy win.
West Indies are currently placed sixth on the ICC World Test Championship 2021-2023 table, while Bangladesh are languishing at the bottom of the table.

In the opening Test, he picked up two wickets in the first innings and five wickets in the second. He was also in fine form in first class cricket over the last two months. In all, Roach has played 72 Tests for West Indies, from which he has 249 wickets at an average of 26.71.
Kyle Mayers – batsman, West Indies
Kyle Mayers has the best average among all his teammates in Tests since the start of 2021. In 12 Test matches since making his debut last year, Mayers has 24 wickets at an average of 16.58. This includes two wickets each in both the innings of the first Test. With the bat, Mayers scored only seven runs in the first innings of the first Test and did not get a chance to bat in the second, and will now be looking to get some runs in the second Test.
Liton Das – wicketkeeper batsman, Bangladesh
Liton Das has been Bangladesh’s best batsman in Tests since the start of 2021. He has scored 1181 runs at an average of 49.21, laced with eight fifties and three centuries. Liton’s 1181 runs is only behind Joe Root (2371) and Dimuth Karunaratne (1216). In all, the veteran batsman has a batting average of 35.78 in 34 Tests.
Shakib Al Hasan – all-rounder, Bangladesh
Shakib Al Hasan has not played a lot of Test cricket recently, but he showed no signs of that in the first Test. While most of his teammates struggled to score runs, Shakib scored a half century each in both the innings.
Tamim Iqbal – batsman, Bangladesh
Tamim Iqbal was not able to convert his starts into both the innings and will be looking to do the same in the second Test.
