Can Chelsea maintain their pole position?
Chelsea and West Ham United, two teams from London, will lock horns in the upcoming game at the London Stadium. After winning the UEFA Champions League last season, Chelsea made the Premier League their primary aim and so far Thomas Tuchel’s team has done a more than decent job.
The Blues have won 10 of their first fourteen matches and have picked up 33 points, which has placed them at the pole position. They started off with a run of unbeaten five games, which included four wins and a draw against Liverpool.
Manchester City handed them their first defeat in the sixth game, but Tuchel’s men made a great comeback by winning their next four matches. In their last four encounters, Chelsea have won two and drawn two encounters each.
West Ham United, on the other hand, have won seven of their 14 matches and are placed at the fourth position on the points table, having picked up 24 points. They started with a four-game unbeaten streak, until Manchester United handed them a defeat.
David Moyes’ team won five of their next six encounters, losing only against Brentford. In their last three matches, however, the Hammers have picked only a solitary point, succumbing to defeats against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City.

Thomas Tuchel will have quite a few players unavailable for this clash. English defender Trevoh Chalobah pulled up his hamstring in the last game against Watford and will be sidelined till at least the last week of this month.
He will join the treatment room, where Ben Chilwell, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are placed currently. Chilwell is out with an ACL injury, Kante has a knee problem while Kovacic is down with a hamstring issue as well.
On the contrary, David Moyes will be lucky enough to have a nearly full-strength team available for this clash. The Scotsman will miss only one player in this match, in French centre-back Angelo Ogbonna, who is down with an ACL injury.
In his absence, Craig Dawson will be paired with a former Chelsea man in Kurt Zouma in central defence, while further up the match, we will see an attacking quartet of Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals and Michael Antonio.

Romelu Lukaku: Striker, Chelsea
It has been more than two months since Romelu Lukaku has started a Premier League game for Chelsea. The Belgian striker suffered a bad injury in a Champions League clash against Malmo and since then had also made substitute appearances.
After a long break, he seems all set to start this match. Lukaku has scored four goals in his second stint with Chelsea, with three of them coming in the Premier League. He has scored twice against Aston Villa and once against Arsenal. Lukaku’s other goal came in the Champions League game against Zenit St. Petersburg.
Michael Antonio: Striker, West Ham United
After a fantastic 2020/21 season, Michael Antonio has had a decent campaign so far in this season as well. The Jamaican goal-machine has found the back of the net 7 times in total, 6 of which came in the Premier League.
Antonio scored one goal each against Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur, while against Leicester City, he got himself a brace. His other goal came in the Europa League clash against Dinamo Zagreb.
Captain & Vice-Captain Selection
Romelu Lukaku is expected to lead the lines for Chelsea after ages and it goes without saying that he will be hungry for goals. Hence, we have selected him as our captain. For vice-captaincy, we have gone with Michael Antonio, who has been West Ham United’s biggest goal-scoring threat.
