West Indies vs India, 1st T20I:
After the ODI series concluded with India sweeping West Indies by 3-0, the focus now shifts to the T20 cricket. The first of the five matches will be hosted at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Friday.
India will have their regular skipper Rohit Sharma back for the T20I series, along with Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant, who were rested from the ODIs. They will be without Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal.
The T20 leg provides both the teams an opportunity to prepare themselves for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Although the pitches are vastly different, they can work on their best combinations.
West Indies’ last T20I assignment was against Bangladesh at home, which they won by 2-0. Earlier this year in February, they toured India for a limited overs series, losing the T20I series by 3-nil.
India have been part of plenty of T20 action in the last month and a half. They drew the five-match series 2-2 against South Africa, after losing the first two games. Then they defeated Ireland in both the games on the tour of the UK, following it up with a 2-1 victory over England.
