WOL vs MCI: Manchester City will visit Wolves as they seek to keep their Premier League title charge intact.
Wolves were expected to make their case for a place in the European spot but it hasn’t been the case so far. Bruno Lage’s team has had some dip in form and they are currently in eighth place five points adrift of West Ham United who has played a game more.
They were on course to their fourth consecutive loss but a late burst of attack saw themselves coming back from two goals down against Chelsea as they left ot pretty late to secure a vital point at Molineux.
A brace from Romelu Lukaku were deemed enough for the visitors but Francisco Trincao reduced the deficit with a brilliant solo effort at the stroke of 79 minutes.
Trincao was again involved as it was his cross from which Conor Coady leveled the score in the dying minutes. They are still in the contention for a spot in Europe but with games against city and Liverpool piling up ahead the road is looking pretty rough.
They can even catch Manchester United if the other results go in their favour but they have to take full points from their remaining matches.
Manchester City took full advantage of Liverpool’s slip as they thrashed Newcastle United 5-0 at Etihad Stadium. A brace from Raheem Sterling and an each from Rodri, Aymeric Laporte and Phil Foden opened a three point gap with second placed Liverpool in the top flight.
With no other trophies to compete it would be very surprising if they fail to achieve their target this time. The Champions League defeat will be hard to fathom and a second consecutive Premier League title could heal their burns.
The defending champions are yet to lose once in the last 16 matches and it seems Wolves have tough task to cut out.
