Match: Gujarat Giants vs Delhi Capitals
Date: March 16, Thursday, 7.30 PM IST
Venue: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai
The Gujarat Giants Women will square off against Delhi Capitals Women in the 14th match of the Women’s Premier League 2023 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Capitals have won four of their five games and have already made it to the playoffs. A win in the next game, however, will take them right at the top of the points table.
In their most recent game, the Capitals beat RCB in a down to the wire game. Shikha Pandey, their top wicket-taker, took three wickets to help restrict the opponents to a first innings total of 150, which the Capitals chased down in the last over of the game. Their middle order comprising Alice Capsey, Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues and Jess Jonassen delivered with the bat.
Gujarat Giants, on the other hand, stand little to no chance of making it to the playoffs. They have lost four of their five matches, and are subsequently sitting right at the bottom of the points table. Most recently, Mumbai Indians beat them by a big margin of 55 runs. Despite three wickets by Ashleigh Gardner, the Indians posted a total of 163 runs, in reply to which the Giants could manage only 107. When Giants and Capitals met earlier this season, the Gujarat-based team won by 10 wickets.
