ZIM vs AFG, 3rd T20I – MPL Fantasy Preview and Top Picks

The third and final T20I between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will be played on June 14 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. The visitors have already won the series by winning both the first two games.

In the first T20I, Zimbabwe scored only 159 for 8 in 20 overs after choosing to bat first. Sikandar Raza scored 45 but none of the other batsmen could get going as Afghanistan debutant Nijat Masood wreaked havoc. The medium pacer picked up three wickets in his four overs.

Chasing 160 runs to win, Afghanistan took the game to the last over before finally wrapping up the game in 19.2 overs. Hazratullah Zazai scored 45 off 26 while his opening partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz chipped in with 33 off 36. Down the order Najibullah Zadran played a match-saving knock – an unbeaten 44 off 25 balls to help the visitors cross the line.

In the second T20I, Afghanistan put up a competitive total of 170 in their 20 overs. Zadran was once again the star performer with a half-century while the likes of Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Nabi also made a significant contribution. In the second innings, the Afghan bowlers together helped defend the target. Four of the bowlers picked up a wicket each while Rashid Khan picked up two. Despite a good effort from Innocent Kaia (54) and Sikandar Raza (41), the hosts fell short of the target by 21 runs.

Ryan Burl – All-rounder, Zimbabwe

Another all-rounder you can include in your MPL fantasy XI is Ryan Burl, who scored an unbeaten half century in the ODIs while also bowling a few economical overs. In the first T20I, Burl was his side’s standout bowler, having picked up three wickets for only 14 runs in his four overs. Burl has an experience of playing 37 T20Is for Zimbabwe, from which he has a batting average and strike rate of 27.71 and 117.33 along with 24 wickets at an economy of 7.37.

Hazratullah Zazai – Batsman, Afghanistan

MPL price – 9 credits

Opening batsman Hazratullah Zazai is one of his side’s biggest hitter of the ball. Zazai scored 45 off 26 in the first T20I at a strike rate of 173.07 and 28 off 13 at a strike rate of more than 200 in the second T20I. In all, he has a strike rate of 148.42 in 24 T20Is.

Rashid Khan – Bowler, Afghanistan

MPL price – 9.5 credits

The experienced spin bowler has taken three wickets in the first two T20Is at an economy of 6.62 which includes the best figures of 2/32. Earlier in the ODIs, he picked up seven wickets in three games.

Najibullah Zadran – Batsman, Afghanistan

MPL price – 9 credits

Najibullah Zadran saved the match for Afghanistan in the first T20I. When wickets kept falling at regular intervals, Zadran scored an unbeaten 44 off 25 balls to take his side over the line. He continued with his good form in the second ODI where he scored a half-century. Zadran brings with him the experience of playing 72 T20Is, from which he has an average and strike rate of 34.87 and 140.35.
