Match: Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh, (ZIM vs BAN, 1st ODI)

Date: August 5, 2022 – 12:45 PM IST

Venue: Harare Sports Club, Harare

After losing the T20I series, visitors Bangladesh will look to start afresh and stronger when they take on the hosts Zimbabwe in the first of the three ODIs.

Not many expected Zimbabwe to clinch the T20I series, with which they also scripted history. They won the first game to take a lead, but lost the second game to level the series at 1-1. The final game was a thrilling contest which went down to the wire but Ryan Burl’s match-winning final over took Zimbabwe over the line. Burl hit 34 runs off an over, hitting Nasum Ahmed for five huge sixes and a four.

The ODI format, however, is going to be a lot different. Bangladesh have won their last two ODI series, against South Africa and West Indies respectively, and will be looking for a third consecutive ODI series win. Bangladesh also have a 19-match winning streak against Zimbabwe in the 50-over format. Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim are back in the batting line-up after missing the T20Is, and this full further bolster the team.

Zimbabwe will be without some of their key players Craig Ervine is out with a hamstring injury, while Sean Williams has been given a break due to personal reasons. Regis Chakabva is the stand-in captain in Ervine’s absence.

Ahead of the first ODI between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, let’s look at the head to head total of both points, pitch report, weather update and more.
