Sachin Tendulkar | 200* vs South Africa, 2010

After opting to bat first, India lost Virender Sehwag early, and interestingly, Dinesh Karthik walked out to bat at three. But little did the latter know that he would be involved in a brilliant partnership with the master blaster. Sachin Tendulkar treated the jam-packed Gwalior crowd with his trademark strokes and stitched a 194-run stand for the second wicket.

He was in such a good touch on the day that it was a chanceless knock from him. The then-skipper of the Indian team, MS Dhoni, was the lucky man to witness history unfold from the non-striker’s end as Sachin Tendulkar reached the first-ever double ton in ODI cricket in the final over of the innings.

He remained unbeaten on 200 off 147 deliveries with a whopping 25 fours and three sixes as India plundered 401 runs for the loss of three wickets in their 50 overs. The historic knock was not going to end in a losing cause as South Africa crumbled under pressure to get bundled out for 248 runs in the 43rd over. It is the most that he has made in an innings.

Sachin Tendulkar won the Player of the Match award for his sensational and record-breaking knock.
