Jake Fraser-McGurk, born on April 11, 2002, in Melbourne, Australia, is a young cricket star known for his explosive batting style that has drawn comparisons to former Australian batter David Warner. McGurk, a right-handed batter, started playing junior cricket from the age of 9 at Boroondara Cricket Club in Australia. His talent shone quickly, leading to him making his first-class and List-A debuts for Victoria in 2019 at the age of 17, where he scored half-centuries in both formats.

In October 2023, he smashed a century off just 29 balls against Tasmania, breaking AB de Villiers' record for the fastest List A century. This amazing performance with 13 sixes turned him from an unknown player into a star. His time in the IPL under Ricky Ponting's guidance made him a more consistent hitter.

His IPL journey started with Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2024 as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi. On his debut, he hit 55 runs off 35 balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). His best year was arguably 2024, marked by an electrifying IPL season where he scored 330 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 234.04, including four half-centuries. 

A standout moment for him came in the IPL when he scored 84 runs off 27 balls against Mumbai Indians, with 11 fours and 6 sixes, earning praise from MI captain Hardik Pandya for his “fearlessness of youth”. Another highlight was his 15-ball fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the joint third-fastest in IPL history.

For IPL 2025, Delhi retained him for Rs 9 crore using their Right to Match card, reflecting his rising value.

McGurk's strength lies in his aggressive batting, particularly in the powerplay. In IPL 2024, he scored 266 runs off just 106 balls in the first six overs, with a strike rate of 250.94. He stands out because he hits boundaries frequently - one every 2.6 balls in the IPL.
