Andre Dwayne Russell, the Jamaican cricketer, is touted to be one of the best T20 cricketers in the world. Taking a hattrick and scoring a century in 40 balls in a single match in the 2018 Caribbean Premier League, Russel became the second player to do so in one match.
The right-handed batsman made his T20 debut in April 2011 against Pakistan at Daren Sammy International cricket stadium.
While the right-arm fast bowler could not perform well in the series against Pakistan, he showed his powerful skills and gameplay soon after in the ODI series against India. He scored 92* In the third match. Russel also picked up one wicket, took a catch, and effected a run out in the same match.
Russell’s debut Test cricket match was in November 2010 against Sri Lanka. Interestingly that is the only Test match that Russell has played in his entire cricket career to date.
As far as the Indian Premier League is concerned, Andre Russel was picked up by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 2012 IPL auctions. But after Kolkata Knight Riders bought Russel in 2014, he remained a part of that team and is one of their key batsmen. In fact, Russel has had a huge contribution to the teams’ victories so far. In the 2021 IPL also, Russell will be playing for Kolkata Knight Riders only.
