Dani Alves tops list for most trophies won by a player in football

Brazilian footballer Davi Alves holds the record for most trophies won by a player in football. Since making his professional debut for the Brazilian football club Bahia in 2003, Dani Alves has won a staggering 43 titles in his illustrious career so far.

Gerard Pique | Spain | 37 trophies

Spain defender Gerard Pique is fifth on the list for most trophies won by a player in football. Since making his senior debut for Manchester United in 2004, Gerard Pique has gone on to bag 37 trophies in his cabinet. He had won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League with the Red Devils in 2008. Pique had also claimed the FA Community Shield in 2007.

Considered to be one the best defenders of his generation, Gerard Pique has won 30 titles with his boyhood club FC Barcelona. After returning to Barcelona in 2008 under Pep Guardiola, Pique has won eight La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions Leagues, seven Copa del Rey titles, three UEFA Super Cups and as many FIFA Club World Cups.

Having made 102 appearances for the Spain national football team, Pique has won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship in 2012.

Andres Iniesta | Spain | 37 trophies

Legendary Spain footballer Andres Iniesta features fourth on the list. The 2010 FIFA World Cup-winning star has clinched 37 trophies in his career so far. Andres Iniesta won his last title with his J1 League club Vissel Kobe, winning the Japanese Super Cup in 2020.

Born in Fuentealbilla, Spain, Andres Iniesta spent most of his professional career at FC Barcelona where he won a staggering 35 trophies including nine La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies.

Apart from winning the coveted FIFA World Cup in South Africa in 2010, Andres Iniesta won the UEFA European Championship twice with the Spain national football team in 2008 and 2018.

Iniesta Iniesta is currently plying his trade for Vissel Kobe with whom he signed after his 22-year-long career at Barcelona.

Hossam Ashour | Egypt | 39 trophies

Egyptian footballer Hossam Ashour is the third most decorated footballer of all time. The defensive midfielder has won 39 domestic and continental competitions with his club Al Ahly since making his senior debut in the Egyptian Premier League against El Mansoura during the 2003-04 season. In his glittering career, Hossam Ashour has won 13 Egyptian Premier League titles, 10 Egyptian Super Cup, six CAF Champions League trophies, five African Super Cup and four Egypt Cup titles. 

In his 20-year-long professional career, Hossam Ashour has made over 500 appearances in all competitions. He has also played eight senior level matches for the Egypt national football team.

Lionel Messi | Argentina | 41 trophies

Argentina national football team captain Lionel Messi is second on the list with 41 trophies. Lionel Messi won his 41st title with his current club Paris Saint-Germain after the Les Parisiens thrashed Nantes 4-0 in the 2022 Trophee de Champions at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel. 

Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Neymar netted a brace. Sergio Ramos also scored a goal to secure a dominating victory.

The Rosario-born footballer won his most trophies (35) with his boyhood club FC Barcelona since making professional debut in 2004. Messi won ten La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey titles and four UEFA Champions Leagues with the La Liga giants until finally leaving the club in 2021. 

Messi also ended his trophy drought with the Argentina national football team after winning the Copa America title in 2021 before adding the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions title in 2022. He had earlier won the gold medal for La Albiceleste in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Brazilian footballer Davi Alves currently tops the list for most trophies won by a player in football. 

Davi Alves became the world’s most decorated football player with 42 trophies after helping Brazil bag the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games’ football tournament. Brazil pipped Spain 2-1 in the final courtesy of an extra-time goal by Malcolm. He later won his 43rd title with Sao Paulo where he claimed the Campeonato Paulista in 2021.

Considered to be one of the greatest full-backs of all-time, Davi Alves has played for seven different football clubs at the senior level, winning 39 trophies so far. While the  Juazeiro-born right-back made his professional debut for Bahia, he later played for Sevilla, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Sao Paulo and Club Universidad Nacional. Furthermore, he has claimed four trophies with the Brazilian national football team. Along with the Tokyo Olympics gold medal, Alves has won the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2003 and the Copa America twice in 2007 and 2019.
