Shivam Dube Biography and Career

Six-feet tall Shivam Dube, who, Sanjay Manjrekar once remarked is one of the handsomest players in the IPL, was born on June 26, 1993, in Mumbai. He was just four years old when his father, Rajesh Dube, understood his son's knack for big hitting.

“He was four years old when I understood he had a knack for big hitting. I started making him play since then. He used to hit the tennis ball far off, so I started to make him practice from morning to evening myself," Mr. Rajesh told The Indian Express.

An all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm at medium pace, Dube is one of the most fearless batters in Indian cricket who can hit massive sixes. Dube initially played school cricket for Hansraj Morarji Public School but had to quit at 14 due to being overweight and lacking the financial resources to focus on his fitness. He made a comeback at 19 and quickly earned a spot in the Mumbai Under-23 team.

Dube played his first Twenty20 match for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on January 18, 2016. He made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on February 25, 2017, and his first-class debut for Mumbai came during the Ranji Trophy on December 7, 2017.

His breakthrough season came in 2018-19. In a Ranji Trophy match against Baroda, Dube smashed five sixes in an over, which brought him into the limelight and eventually earned him an IPL contract.

Ahead of the 2019 IPL season, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 5 crore. In 2021, he moved to Rajasthan Royals, followed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2023. Under MS Dhoni's guidance at CSK, Shivam improved his finishing skills. His performance in IPL 2023 was a turning point, where he scored 418 runs at a strike rate of 158.33. He was retained for Rs 4 crore for IPL 2024, and for Rs 12 crore for IPL 2025

His success earned him a place in the Indian T20I squad in 2019. He made his debut against Bangladesh on November 3, 2019. Soon after, he played his first ODI against the West Indies in December 2019.

In January 2024, in a T20I against Afghanistan, Dube scored 60 runs off 40 balls and took a wicket while conceding only nine runs. This made him only the fourth Indian cricketer to scoee a half century along with a wicket in a T20I match. Later that year, he was a part of India’s squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Dube is known for his aggressive batting and ability to clear boundaries. His medium-pace bowling adds depth to any team. As an all-rounder, he is an asset in limited-overs cricket.

Beyond cricket

As of 2025, Shivam Dube's estimated net worth is around Rs 25–30 crore. This wealth stems from a combination of his earnings as a professional cricketer, endorsements, and other business ventures. Over the years, his growing popularity has earned him quite a few lucrative endorsement deals.

Dube tied the knot with his long-time partner, Anjum Khan, on July 16, 2021. The wedding was a private ceremony, attended by close family and friends. The couple became parents to a baby boy in 2022, and to a baby girl in 2025. Dube is a family-oriented person who enjoys spending time with his wife and children when not busy with cricket. Off the field, he is known to be humble and grounded.
