Vishnu Vinod, also known as VV, is an Indian right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman known for his aggressive stroke play and versatile contributions across formats. A consistent performer in domestic cricket, he has made a name for himself as a reliable top-order batter and an energetic presence behind the stumps.
He made his Twenty20 debut for Kerala on 3 April 2014 against Karnataka in the 2014–15 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Later that year, on 10 November 2014, he debuted in List A cricket during the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Hyderabad. His first-class debut came in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy on 5 November 2016 against Haryana.
In the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, Vishnu scored his maiden first-class century, a remarkable 193 not out off 282 ballsagainst Madhya Pradesh, underlining his ability to play long innings in red-ball cricket.
The 2019–20 domestic season was a breakthrough for him. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was Kerala’s top run-scorer, amassing 508 runs from 8 matches at an impressive average of 63.50, including three centuries. This performance led to his selection in the India A squad for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy, where he played two matches.
In November 2021, during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vishnu delivered an explosive performance, scoring 65 not out off just 26 balls, including seven sixes, in a quarter-final match against Tamil Nadu. Though Kerala lost the game, his innings was widely noted for its power and pace.
A month later, in December 2021, he scored an unbeaten century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Maharashtra, sharing a record 174-run seventh-wicket partnership with Sijomon Joseph, helping Kerala secure a memorable win.
Vishnu has also featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his IPL debut in 2017 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and later joined teams like Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians, where he made a brief appearance in 2023. In the IPL 2025 auction, he was acquired by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for ₹95 lakh, reflecting his growing value in T20 cricket.
Vishnu Vinod continues to be recognized for his ability to score quickly, adapt across formats, and bring balance to any side with his dual role as a wicketkeeper and top-order batter.
