Indian cricket all-rounders: A list refer to while building your fantasy cricket team

Cricket in India is not just a sport but an event, or it won’t be wrong if we call it a feeling. People’s emotions are associated with the game. The Indian cricket teams, since the beginning, have been making records and bringing laurels to the country. Be it any decade, the Indian cricket team is always chosen so that a player with different specific skills and an all-rounder is always included. The aspiring cricket players undergo a lot of training and have to prove their mettle in several tournaments before they are selected in India’s National Cricket team.

While every player has a different batting or bowling style, there are some all-rounders as well who can perform well in both areas. There have been various all-rounders in Indian cricket history and even in the world. Names like Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin come to our minds when we talk about all-rounders in India. Besides these legends, there are also a few all-rounders that deserve mention in our all-rounder’s list.

Hardik Pandya

We all know that Hardik Pandya has become a brand and is one of the best players that India has in its team. Whenever we talk about the best Indian cricketers, Hardik Pandya’s name always finds its place in the list.  Pandya is an all-rounder in cricket, a right-hand batsman, and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. Making his T20 international debut for India in the year 2016, Pandya also debuted in ODI for India in the same year, against New-Zealand.

Hardik Pandya was also one of the 15 players who played for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Pandya has played 45 ODIs and 11 test matches for India. Pandya played his first-ever Test match on 26th-July-2017 in Galle, Srilanka, when he was selected in the main team that toured Sri Lanka that year. His first Test century in his cricketing career was in the 3rd Test match against Sri Lanka. Hardik Pandya has several records on his name. One of them being for scoring the maximum number of runs (26 runs) in a single over in a Test Innings for India.

When it comes to bowling, Pandya has also bowled 1894 balls and has also taken a total of 44 wickets. He has an average of 34.3 in ODI and 31.3 in Test cricket. The best ODI bowling performance of Hardik Pandya has been 3/31.

IPL Career

Hardik Pandya has been with Mumbai Indians since the year 2015 when he made his debut in the tournament. He is known as a key performer for Mumbai Indians. He has noted as a key player for the Mumbai Indians franchise due to his hit-every-ball strategy and medium-fast bowling. He has consistently delivered well and has been a noteworthy performer in all the IPL seasons that he has played. Pandya has so far played a total of 66 IPL matches and has scored 1068 runs, including three half-centuries. His average is 28.86 and his SR (strike rate) is 154.78.

Krunal Pandya

Hardik Pandya’s brother Krunal Pandya is no less in any aspect. Krunal Pandya is an all-rounder cricketer from India, a left-handed batsman, and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Playing in the domestic cricket for Baroda and IPL for Mumbai Indians, Pandya made his international cricket debut for the Indian national cricket team in the year 2018. Pandya’s cricket debut was in October 2016 when he played for Baroda in the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy tournament. In 8 matches, Pandya took 11 wickets and scored 366 runs. Pandya made his T20 International debut and played for India against the West Indies in the year 2018.

IPL Career

Krunal made his IPL debut in April 2016 as a part of Mumbai Indians and played against Gujarat Lions at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. His performance throughout the IPL 2016 tournament was outstanding noteworthy. Since then, Krunal Pandya has been playing Mumbai Indians in all the IPL to date. Pandya was also chosen for the Indian Cricket team for T20 International to play against Australia. Pandya is also one of the best all-rounders of the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel is an Indian all-rounder cricket and is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox bowler. He started his career by playing for Gujarat against Delhi. Patel was officially named the Under-19 cricket of the year for the 2012-13 season by BCCI. He was also named the “emerging player of the tournament” in the seventh season of the IPL tournament, i.e., IPL 2014. In the same year, i.e., 2014, Patel made his ODI debut at Shere Bangla National Stadium when he played against Bangladesh.

In his cricketing career, Patel has played 38 matches so far. In them, he has had an average of 31.31, an economy rate of 4.43, and has taken 45 wickets. Not only that, but Patel was also chosen for the Indian team for the 2015 World Cup. He was placed at 13th position in ICC ODI rankings in the year 2016 when he took three wickets against Zimbabwe. However, Pandya has never had a consistent run in 11 primary players for the Indian Cricket team.

IPL Career

In 2013, Patel was auctioned and bought by Mumbai Indians but did not play in that IPL season. In 2014, he was chosen for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) team and was one of the all-rounders of the team. He then played his first IPL match in 2014 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. He took 17 wickets in IPL 2014 and was also named as the “emerging player of the tournament” that year. In 2019, Delhi Capitals bought Patel at a whopping amount of Rs 5 crores and played as a part of Delhi Daredevils. Patel has played for five seasons for Kings XI Punjab. He has played 68 matches in which he took 61 wickets at an average of 28.93, with one five-wicket haul. Patel made his T20 International debut against Zimbabwe in 2015. 

Vijay Shankar

Vijay Shankar is an all-rounder Indian Cricketer, right-handed batsman, and right-arm medium-pace bowler. He is an outstanding player that India has right now. Shankar made his ODI debut in 2019 and played 9 ODI matches until World Cup 2019. In the five innings, he batted and scored 165 runs at an average of 33 and an SR (strike rate) of 96.49. In fact, he was unbeaten in all of those innings. Shankar was also one of the 15 players who were selected in the India squad for the ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup in England and Wales. As far as bowling is concerned, Shankar had bowled 201 balls and taken two wickets with an average of 94 and an economy rate of 5.61. Shankar’s best ODI bowling performance has been 2/15. Vijay made his T20 international debut in the year 2018 and was officially selected for India’s ODI squad in 2019 against Australia. 

IPL Career

Vijay Shankar played one match for the Chennai Super Kings in  2014 IPL. He was then bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the year 2017 and played four matches for them. In 2018, he was again auctioned and was subsequently purchased by the Delhi Daredevils franchise. In the 2019 IPL Shankar yet again became part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise. Shakar has constantly proved to be one of the best all-rounders of all the franchises that he has been a part of. The same year, ahead of 2019 IPL, Shankar found his name in this list of “eight players to watch” by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Kedar Jadhav 

One of the nice performing all-rounders today, Kedar Jadhav is also one of the players who were selected in the India Squad to play in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales. Jadhav made his ODI debut in the year 2014 and had played 59 ODI matches up until the 2019 World Cup. Till then, he had batted in 40 innings and had scored 1174 runs in a total of 1145 balls. His average was 43.48, and SR (Strike Rate) was 102.53. In 13 of those 40 innings, he was unbeaten. Jadhav had the highest score of 120 in those innings. Up until then, he had made two centuries and five half-centuries. As far as bowling is concerned, Jadhav had bowled 1091 balls, taken 27 wickets, and conceded 937 runs. With an average of 34.7 and an economy rate of 5.15, Jadhav’s best ODI bowling performance was 3/23.

In domestic cricket, Kedar Jadhav plays for Maharashtra. He made his T20 international debut in the year 2015 against Zimbabwe. In his domestic cricket career, Jadhav made his first triple century in the year 2012 and scored 327 in the Ranji Trophy while playing against Uttar Pradesh. In the next Ranji Trophy tournament i.e., 2013-14, Jadhav scored 1223 runs, including six centuries. This further pushed Maharashtra to make it to their first even Ranji finals since the 1992-93 tournament.

IPL Career

As far as the Indian Premier League (IPL) is concerned, Jadhav is a part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise. Before CSK, Kedar Jadhav had also played for other IPL franchises like Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
