Ajax Away (Shirt Sponsor: Adidas, Main Sponsor: Ziggo)

Ajax’s kits have been delightful over the past few years. After setting the world of European football on fire with their Bob Marley inspired away kit, Arsenal have pulled off yet another stunning beauty this time around with their away shirt. Whether it’s the iconic icy blue marvel colour, red Adidas stripes on the shoulders as well as the sponsors and the club badge in golden, they have stolen the show with this shirt once again, making it the best football jersey of the 2022/23 season.

The shirt also evokes memories of the 1995 Champions League winners with its deep blue and red touches. The fact that they have gone for such profound simplicity with the concept makes the shirt only louder and more beautiful.

Southampton Away (Shirt Sponsor: Hummel, Main Sponsor: Sportsbet.io)

If Ajax’s away shirt is simple and profound, Southampton’s intricate design is so eye-catching that had it been the jersey of a bigger European club instead, there would be no escaping away from it throughout the season. The beautiful Southampton away shirt sporting colours like sea green, icy blue and pale orange, is said to have been inspired by the south coast surroundings of England where Southampton is situated.

The shirt is also reminiscent of a majestic piece of art known as the Great Wave off Kanaga. It goes without saying that it is one of the most beautiful kits in the Premier League this season and one that will be known as one of the best jerseys of the year.

Norwich City Home (Shirt Sponsor: Joma, Main Sponsor: Lotus)

Norwich City have absolutely nailed their home kit for the 2022/23 season. Even though they might be struggling in the second-tier of the Championship, their jersey’s simplicity makes it an all time standout. The club’s badge has gone through a much-needed redesign where some of the details have been more polished and it suddenly looks bright and amazing.

The pinstripes in green on the base of yellow are sleek and the letters of the Lotus logo fit perfectly between the stripes. Of all the designs and features on the shirt, the collar is outstanding given that the shades of both the yellow and green excellently complement one another.

Arsenal Away (Shirt Sponsor: Adidas, Main Sponsor: Emirates)

To the fans of Arsenal, the partnership with Adidas has been extremely fruitful. Even though the German sportswear company has remodelled some old iconic classics with a new look taste for the Gunners in the last few years, this year’s away shirt is brand new, and is a fan favourite.

Instead of being a throwback to the old Highbury ground, the pattern is reminiscent of the Emirates Stadium this time around. The away shirt packs a stark black colour and the detailing and design is almost vintage gold. The cannon insignia instead of the club badge from the previous season also finds itself on this jersey and the round collar is present as well. It wouldn’t be surprising to see remakes of this particular shirt 20 years later.

Real Betis Away (Shirt Sponsor: Hummel, Main Sponsor: Fi Network)

The influence of style icon Hector Bellerin on Real Betis is already showing in the brilliance of their away jersey. While the home shirt is nice, the away football jersey is a cut above the rest in more ways than one. Hummel have smartly utilised hoops with two very subtly different shades of blue that adds both balance and contrast. The club badge looks elegant as always and white lettering and numbers hardly look out of fashion in the design.

Barcelona Away (Shirt Sponsor: Nike, Main Sponsor: Spotify)

While their home shirt last year was a complete mess, Nike have found more groove this year with Barcelona’s shirt designs. All three kits for the Catalan club are beauties and attractive this time around, but the away jersey stands out especially bright.

The design from Nike is inspired by the 1992 Olympic Games which was hosted in Barcelona and the away shirt is draped in regal olympic gold. The jersey pattern has a map of the city, highlighting the venues used at the 1992 Games held in Catalunya, while the trim at the end of the sleeves have the colours of the five Olympic rings.

Venezia Third (Shirt Sponsor: Kappa, Main Sponsor: Citta di Venezia)

Italian football club Venezia risk becoming a fashion statement team more than a football club at this point. They have become the butt of several jokes online regarding their focus and attention towards fashion more than football on the pitch and the relegation to Serie B certainly didn’t help their cause.

With that being said, Venezia are once again the best dressed team in all of Italy. After wowing the entire world with both their home and away shirt designs last year, Kappa have pulled off yet another miracle. While all three jerseys are beautiful to look at, the shining gold third shirt with a thick black colour is definitely the pick of the bunch.

Crystal Palace Away (Shirt Sponsor: Macron, Main Sponsor: Cinch)

Crystal Palace’s new shirt sponsors Macron have already done a tremendous job for the club. They have handled Palace’s scribbles with aplomb and those appear on the home, away and third kits as a way to refresh stripes without majorly hacking off half the supporters. However, the away shirt is the highlight of them all given that the base colour is simple white and the clean and plain Crystal Palace scribbles in red and blue pop out more. Fans are even arguing that it might just be the best Crystal Palace shirt of all time.

Burnley Home (Shirt Sponsor: Umbro, Main Sponsor: Classic Football Shirts)

Burnley have gone through a revolution over the summer. The era of long-ball football under Sean Dyche has come to a conclusion and former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is now back in charge as head coach of the side. The results are paying off as Burnley lead the Championship table and are on their way towards earning promotion back to the Premier League.

The fact that they have been playing such dominant football with their reimagined red and claret home shirt this season has been particularly astonishing. The shirt sponsor – Classic Football Shirts – is also quite fitting and beautiful. The strange patterns of the admittedly terrible Burnley badge are blown up and splattered all over in half-tone patterns as a 90s tribute, while the collar and cuffs are thick, too.

Lille Third (Shirt Sponsor: New Balance, Main Sponsor: Cazoo)

Lille’s third shirt rounds off this list of the 10 football jerseys of 2022/23 season. The shirt ticks all the boxes. Minimalism? Check. Apt main sponsor? Check. Simple round collar? Check. Beautiful colour combination? Check. Check. Check.

Lille’s beautiful dog insignia also looks splendid on the shirt and the colour combination makes the font and numbers even more emphatic. All three of Les Dogues’ shirts this season are stunning but the third effort is the pick of the bunch by a margin
