Messi Jersey Number: jersey numbers

Messi had been at Barcelona since his childhood. The 35 year old had spent with the Catalan giants more than a decade before changing sides last summer. Messi started his career at Barcelona with the shirt number 30 at first and it was his initial years when he had started to flourish at the Camp Nou. He showed his prolificacy in front of the goal as the highly rated scored a number of goals wearing that jersey number.

After establishing his prominence in Spain the Argentine had been handed over the shirt number 19 at the Spanish club for a couple of seasons. It could be called his breakthrough season as he went on to find the net on 33 occasions.

It took very little time for the Barcelona hierarchy to recognise the talent of the seven time Ballon d’Or winner and he followed the footsteps of the great Brazilian midfielder Ronaldinho as he wore the number 10 jersey.

It started a revolution at the club as Lionel Messi proved to be a one man army for the club. He guided them to four Champions League titles, 10 La Liga titles, 7 Spanish Cup titles and 8 Spanish Super Cup titles.

Messi also is the highest scorer in the history of the Spanish club as he netted 670 goals in 776 matches for them. Lionel Messi’s influence on the Spanish club cannot be denied as e had been the most gigantic figure in the history of the club.

Messi came to France and picked up a new shirt number 30 upon his arrival at PSG. The Argentine didn’t have the most desired start last season but still managed to persuade the fans with his brilliant work on the pitch. Neymar did offer the number 10 shirt to his teammate but Messi decided to don the number 30 which he used to wear at Barcelona.

Messi scored on 5 occasions and laid another 14 goals in the Ligue 1. The French giants are expected to compete in all the major competitions next season and Messi would be a big part of the current setup.

Messi surprisingly did wear the number 10 for PSG due to a bizarre French Cup tradition which states the starting eleven players would wear numbers starting from 1 to 11. With Neymar not playing the game, Messi was seen wearing the famous number 10 against Nice in the competition.
