In-Between Rules in the Intervals

The game rules for the In-Between are straightforward. Most players will be able to master them in no time. First, you must set up your gaming area.

The Beginning

Begin by giving each participant an equal amount of chips to start the game (e.g., ten). Each player contributes one of their chips to the centre pot (or some other agreed amount).

You must choose a dealer before you begin playing (he will also play the game along with the remaining players). The cards are shuffled and placed in front of the dealer, and the dealer deals them.

Decide on the total number of rounds you want to play and maximum bet if required.

In-Between Card Game Rules

The rules of the game are as follows:

  • Two cards are turned over and placed in the centre of the table by the dealer.
  • Now the player to the left of the dealer plays their turn. He bets on whether the value of the next card will fall between the two.
  • The minimum bet is one chip, and the maximum wager is the number of chips in the middle pot multiplied by the number of chips in the whole pot.
  • If the player wins, he receives double the amount of chips he bet (for example, the player bets two chips on a card with a value of 2 to 8). He gets his two chips back plus two more chips from the pot if the card is a 6.
  • If a player loses (for example, if the third card is a 9), the player’s chips are put in or added to the pot.
  • The cards are placed in a separate pile, face down.

Another player takes turns (in a clockwise direction). The dealer deals two new cards.

The Sport of Betting

The player to the left of the dealer may bet the entire pot or any number of chips in the pot, but that player has to always bet at least one chip.

When a player lays a wager, the dealer removes the top card from the deck and inserts it between the two cards that are currently face up.

If the card ranks between the two existing face-up cards, the player wins and receives his wager plus an equal amount from the pot.

The player loses his stake if the third card is not between the face-up cards or of the same rank. If the player’s two face-up cards are consecutive, they automatically lose and do not need to turn up the third card dealt.

If the two face-up cards are the same, the player wins two chips, and no third card is revealed. (As per game rules, this results in the player receiving three chips.)

The finest combination is “Acey-Deucey” (ace, 2), and a player will usually wager the entire pot if they can.

The only way any ace-deuce combination will lose is if the 3rd card is also an ace or a deuce, this is the case.

The dealer clears the cards and lays them face down in a pile once the first player has completed. After that, the next player lays a wager, and the dealer repeats the process until all of the players, including the dealer, have had their turn.

If the pot runs out of chips at any point (for example, because a player has “bet the pot” and won), each player must re-enter one chip to restore the pot.

When every player has had a chance to gamble, the deal passes to the player to the left of the dealer, and the game continues.

Unique Situations

The game continues similarly, although you will occasionally encounter the following situations:

  • If the middle two cards are in sequence (for example, 6 and 7), the player loses one chip (the minimum bet). In this situation, there’s no need to turn the third card over.
  • If the two middle cards have the same value (for example, two queens), the player receives chips from the pot. There’s no need to turn the third card over once more.
  • The player loses if the third card has the same value as any of the other cards.
  • If a player wages the maximum amount and wins (i.e. collects all of the chips from the middle pot), all other players will donate an equal amount of chips to form a new bank.

The round ends when all players have had their turns. Play for as many rounds as you agreed upon at the start. The players count their chips when all the rounds have been completed in the In Between game. The player who has the most chips wins the game.

Conclusion

The In-between game can be completed or carried on as long as the players want, as the rounds can be as many as these players wish to. It is an exciting and easy card game for card-game lovers. It takes you to the new realm of rules with slight variations that keep you intrigued throughout the gaming session. So, what are you waiting for? Start your In-between card game journey today.
