Born in 1999, Cameron Green is an Australian cricketer who plays in all three formats of the game - Test, ODI, and T20I. He is a right-handed batter and right-arm fast-medium bowler. At the domestic level, Green plays for Western Australia and has represented various teams in leagues like the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The tall all-rounder grew up in Subiaco, Perth, where he played for the Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club. His match-winning performances in junior cricket eventually led to a WACA rookie contract and subsequent first-class debut at age 16, in which he announced his arrival with a five-wicket haul. This spell also made him the youngest player to take a five-wicket haul in the Sheffield Shield.
His ODI and T20I debuts came in 2020 and 2022 respectively, and his Test debut came against India in December 2020. He was instrumental in Australia winning the 2021/22 Ashes series - Green notched up two half-centuries, both scores of 74, and delivered a match-winning bowling performance in the fifth Test, claiming three wickets for 21 runs. A few of his other career highlights include winning the 2023 Cricket World Cup and the 2023 ICC World Test Championship with Australia. He was also a part of Australia's 2022 and 2024 T20 World Cup squads.
He has achieved a few records in his career so far, including maiden double centuries in first-class cricket and Test centuries, along with several five-wicket hauls in various formats. In the IPL 2023 auction, Green was bought by the Mumbai Indians for a staggering Rs 17.5 crore. This made him the second most expensive overseas player in IPL auction history and most expensive Australian player. In November 2023, he was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore after representing Mumbai for one season.
Despite facing periods of being dropped from the Australian team, Green's recent resurgence includes a return to the Test side after David Warner's retirement and a Player of the Match award for an unbeaten 174 against New Zealand in 2024.
After originally starting out as a bowling all-rounder, Green started batting a bit more following a series of injuries.
In February 2025, Cameron Green took to social media to announce his engagement with his girlfriend Emily Redwood, a nutritionist by profession. Talking about his net worth, it is estimated to be around 7 million dollars. Green's three primary sources of income include his contract with Cricket Australia and his contracts with various franchise cricket teams. In 2023, he became the most expensive Australian player ever at the IPL auction after being acquired by the Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 17.5 crore.
Fastest Century in IPL 2023: Representing Mumbai Indians, Green scored a 47-ball century against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 21, 2023, marking the fastest century of the season.
Most expensive Australian player ever bought at the auction (2023): Mumbai Indians snapped him up for a record 17.5 crore. He also became the second most expensive overseas player in IPL auction history.
Highest 10th wicket partnership against New Zealand (2024): he and Josh Hazlewood 116 runs together at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, which is 10th wicket partnership against New Zealand.
Third-fastest half-century for Australia (2022): reached 50 off just 19 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes, only behind David Warner and Glenn Maxwell, who both achieved it off 18 deliveries.
