Left-handed batter and part-time right-arm off-spin bowler, Travis Head is an all-format player representing the Australian National Team. Head's journey in professional cricket started when he represented South Australia at both under-17 and under-19 levels.
An 18-year-old Head made his first-class debut for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield in 2012. After a promising start to his first-class career, Head kept rising through the ranks.
Head was first called up to Australia's squad at the age of 22 for a T20I series against India in 2016. He made a mark in white-ball cricket before earning a Test debut in 2018.
In 2018, he was selected for the Test team to play Pakistan in the UAE. He played 16 consecutive Tests and scored his first century against Sri Lanka in Canberra. However, he was dropped during the 2020-21 series against India due to poor form. On the back of impressive performances at the domestic level, Head was recalled for the Ashes in 2021 and scored a game-changing century off 85 balls at the Gabba. He was also adjudged the ‘Player of the Series’ for his 357 runs.
“I went to Sussex after losing my national contract, and I tried hard, but nothing was working in my favour. In one of my last games for the English county side, I scored 49 runs off 46 balls in the second innings, and I decided that I was going to slog. I did it well and thought I should be following the same way from now onwards,” Head recalled in an interview.
Ever since returning to the Australian Test team in 2021, Head has established himself as indispensable to the team in all formats. In 2022, he marked his first ODI appearance since November 2018 and scored a classy century.
The year 2023, in particular, was a memorable one for the southpaw. That year, he played a crucial role in Australia winning the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup, winning the Player of the Match award in the final of both marquee tournaments. The southpaw scored a century in both finals.
"Not in a million years did I think that would happen [being man of the match today and in the World Test Championship final]. What an amazing day. I'm just thrilled to be a part of it,” Head said after the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
Head has also found success in T20 leagues like the Indian Premier League and the Big Bash League. He was the leading run-scorer for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024. His incredible run in the season also included a fine century.
An aggressive southpaw, Head can dominate the best of bowlers. His fearless approach makes him a key player in both red-ball and white-ball cricket, especially in pressure situations.
Beyond cricket
Following his incredible match-winning performances in the final of two ICC events in 2023, Travis Head's net worth skyrocketed. As of 2025, the batter's total net worth is estimated to be around Rs 24 crore. Match fees, brand endorsements, and BBL and IPL contracts are his major sources of income. Gray-Nicholls, Adidas, Asics, Kookaburra, and NRMA Insurance are among the top brands endorsed by the cricketer.
Head tied the knot with girlfriend Jessica Davies, a model and entrepreneur, in April 2023. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in September 2022, and their second child, a son, in November 2024.
