ICC ODI World Cup 2023: How to buy tickets? All you need to know

The much-awaited ICC ODI World Cup is set to be played in India later this year, and here is where you can get tickets for the event.

The tournament is set to be played from October 5 to November 19. International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) jointly announced the schedule of the competition only last month after much delay.

Finalists of the 2019 mega event – England and New Zealand – will lock horns in the opening game of ODI World Cup on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Hosts India will start their campaign against five-time champions Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The marquee India vs Pakistan game is scheduled to be played on October 15 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in front of more than 1 lakh fans. The demand for tickets is going to be huge for the marquee and much-awaited clash between the arch-rivals. The flight tickets and the hotel room prices have already touched sky-high in anticipation of the clash.

While flight tickets are costing around INR 40,000 to 50,000 to and fro during that period, the hotel room prices in normal category for one night are costing close to INR 50,000. Perhaps, the premium category room prices are no less than a whopping INR 1 lakh.

As many as 10 venues – Ahmedabad, Chennai, Benglauru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Lucknow, Pune and Kolkata have been shortlisted to host the World Cup matches. Hyderabad will not be hosting any India games but two Pakistan and one New Zealand encounters against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

Throughout the history of ODI World Cup, the tournament has given countless memories for the fans. The 2019 World Cup in England was one such mega event with the home team registering a stunning win over much debated boundary count after the match was tied after regulatory 100 overs and then the Super Over. Hence, the anticipation for the matches across the world will be huge.

How to buy tickets for ODI WC 2023 in India?

Fans waited very patiently for the schedule which was announced only 100 days before the tournament. And now the delay in the announcement of tickets and prices will be making them unsettled. The unprecedented delay isn’t great for the fans in foreign countries who are needed to plan their travel and stay according to the schedule of their favourite matches and ticket availability.

Interestingly, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has already announced ticket price for the matches at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The venue has got the hosting rights of two Pakistan and Bangladesh matches each, the India vs South Africa encounter and the semi-final as well.

The ticket prices begin from INR 800 onwards to INR 3000 for India match and the semi-final while for the Pakistan matches, the range is from INR 800 to INR 2200. The ticket prices for the Bangladesh matches is between INR 650 and INR 1500.

ICC is yet to make any official announcement about the ticket availability and its prices. But the tickets should be available online through the official ICC Cricket World Cup website and app.

The World Cup tickets will also be available on platforms such as Paytm, PayTM Insider, BookMyShow app and website.

Moreover, it is highly unlikely that many tickets will be available to buy offline at the venues to avoid stampede-like situations that were witnessed during the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year.

Expect the ICC to make an official announcement and a detailed guide related to tickets availability at different venues and its prices.

Looking at the prices in the earlier international matches played in India, the ticket prices could cost anywhere between INR 500 to INR 10,000. However, the prices might vary significantly for marquee and knockout matches.
