With both teams currently holding 2 points each, securing a victory in this contest is of utmost significance for their respective changes to advance to the final of the tournament.

India are so far unbeaten in the tournament. In their first Super 4 game, they defeated arch rivals Pakistan by a big margin in Colombo only yesterday. In the return fixture, however, the Indian batsmen completely dominated the Pakistan bowlers.

In their most recent match against Bangladesh in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup 2023, Sri Lanka posted a total of 257 batting first, before bowling out Bangladesh for 236 runs in 48.1 overs. Maheesh Theekshana, Dasun Shanaka and Matheesha Pathirana picked up three wickets each to help Sri Lanka win comfortably. The team that loses between India and Sri Lanka will go back home.
