Cricket World Cup 2023: ENG vs BAN Fantasy Preview and MPL Top Picks

Match: England vs Bangladesh, Cricket World Cup 2023 (ENG vs BAN)

Date: October 9, Monday, 10.00 AM IST

Venue: Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala

England will be up against Bangladesh in match 7 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday (October 10) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. England, won the final of the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand, lost their opening game of the 2023 World Cup to the same team.

Joe Root (77) and Jos Buttler (43) played important knocks, but those were not enough to take England to a competitive total. Batting first, they finished on 282 for 9 in their 50 overs, which the bowlers were unable to defend. The English bowlers were at the receiving end of a record-breaking partnership between Devon Conway (152*) and Rachin Ravindra (123*). The only wicket that fell was taken by Sam Curran. After an underwhelming start to their campaign, the defending champions will be looking to bounce back stronger against Bangladesh, which is not one of the strongest teams in the competition.

Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan in their opening match. Shakib al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shoriful Islam picked up eight wickets between them to bowl out Afghanistan for just 156 runs in 37.2 overs. In the chase, Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto scored half centuries to take Bangladesh to the target in 34.4 overs. A comprehensive win will give Bangladesh a confident boost for their next match, but England, despite having lost their first game, will not be an easy side to defeat.
