Sri Lanka and Pakistan will contest the fifth match of the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup 2023 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 14. This game will decide which team advances to the final.
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka come into this game on the back of a loss to India. Pakistan were completely outplayed by India – their bowlers were largely ineffective as India managed to score 356 for loss of only two wickets in the first innings. In reply they were bowled out for only 128 runs as Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc with the ball, picking up five wickets. Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan managed to score just 12 runs combined. For the next game, Pakistan have dropped Fakhar Zaman in favour of Mohammed Haris.
Sri Lanka too lost to India, but not without putting up a good fight. Their bowlers bowled brilliantly to restrict the Indian batsmen to a low score. Dunith Wellalage picked up five wickets to bowl out India for a total of 213 in 49.1 overs. However, their batsmen were not able to chase down the target as Kuldeep Yadav picked up four wickets and Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja also shared four wickets between them.
