Michael Vaughan picks the better captain in T20s between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are among the best cricketers in the white-ball cricket and two of the biggest match-winners in the Indian cricket team.

Since 2013, the duo has garnered impressionable numbers in both ODIs and T20Is and though Kohli leads the chart, Rohit isn’t far behind. While they both are superstars in the batting arena, it’s the captaincy that is the most talked-about subject.

Time and again the question arises as to who among Rohit and Virat is the better captain in the limited-overs and if there requires a split captaincy in the future.

While Kohli continues to captain the Indian team across all formats (ODIs, Tests, and T20Is), Rohit’s enormous success in the IPL as the Mumbai Indians skipper has seen many cricketing experts backing the latter for his captaincy prowess.

The Hitman’s calm and composed attitude and the right use of bowlers in clutch moments have helped Mumbai Indians in grabbing four IPL titles, making him the most successful captain in terms of titular wins.

Rohit Sharma enjoys a win percentage of 59.4 percent in IPL, which comprises 63 Wins in 103 matches. He even led the Mumbai Indians to a Champions League T20 (CLT20) victory in 2013, and as a skipper of the Indian cricket team has won the 2018 Asia Cup and the 2018 Nidahas Trophy.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is yet to win a title as a captain for the Men in Red. With the start they have achieved this season, winning two out of three matches, the Bengaluru-based franchise certainly has a good shot for the title in IPL 2020 underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

On account of the recent T20 faceoff between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan weighs down as to who’s the better captain in T20s – Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma is a little bit calmer and a little bit cooler: Michael Vaughan

“Incredible cricketers, two of the greats of the game. Rohit Sharma for me is a magnificent T20 captain. He is a little bit calmer and a little bit cooler.

He is very smart as a leader. I think in T20 cricket, I think he has got a better plan on how to play the game. I still feel Virat is trying to find his feet in how to play as a leader in T20 cricket,” said Vaughan to Gaurav Kapoor on Cricbuzz.

The latest encounter between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore witnessed over 400-runs being put in 40 overs, followed by a super-over contest that RCB eventually won.

The duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers drove the team to victory in the super-over and helped RCB again their second win of the season. AB de Villiers was awarded the Man of the Match for his blistering 55* (24b, 4 fours, 4 sixes), and he’s now tied alongside Chris Gayle for most Man of the Match titles in IPL history.

In the points table, RCB is occupying the 3rd spot with an NRR of -1.450, while MI is placed at the 5th position with an NRR of +0.654.

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will next face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on October 1 and 3 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
