Rummy Tournaments Vs. Cash Games

The rummy rules are the same, but the structures for cash and tournament games can differ. The cash games played are on an individual level, while the tournaments are on a larger scale- they continue for a longer time and are more elaborate. The result, however, is that the winner gets cash prizes. In a cash rummy game, the number of players will be within 2to 6. Rummy tournaments include multiple tables and players over 5-10 rounds, depending on the number of players registered for the tournament.

In most cash rummy games, it is determined by a prize pool. However, in rummy tournaments, the prize depends on the number of people participating.

In most rummy tournaments, initial registration fees are required as a mandate, whereas you can enter a cash game anytime. Tournaments begin at a time that is organised and decided earlier. Cash games are always available on the MPL app, and you can play them at any time of the day. You do not require prior notice for it.

How to Play Online Rummy Tournaments on MPL

How to Play Rummy

MPL has three Rummy variants: Deals, Points, and Pool.

MPL segregates the tables by the skill level and the entry fee amount.

Always start with the lower entry table- especially when playing for the first time.

Rummy, as a game, is all about creating valid sets and sequences and reducing the points from 80 to 0

A player has to make a minimum of 2 sequences- Pure Sequence and Impure Sequence

Pure Sequence: A player can form a sequence with a group of three or more cards of the same suit, that are in consecutive order. The player cannot form a pure sequence with a joker card (wild card). To declare a rummy game, they at least need to have one pure sequence.

Impure Sequence: An impure sequence is formed when a group of 3 or more cards of the same suit with an added wild card or a joker card. Although a valid declaration can contain impure sequences, it is mandatory to have a pure sequence.

Sets: It is a group of either three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. Use both the wild card and printed Jokers in a set. There is no compulsion of forming pure and impure sets in sets. Regardless of a joker card, you can form a set.

Wild Card: It is a designated card in rummy that can be used to represent any particular card. Most of the time, a joker is chosen for an entire game as a Wild Card.

Scoring in Rummy:

A, K, Q, J- 10 points

10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2- same as face value

Joker and Wild Cards- 0 points

A player must declare valid sets and sequences and reach zero at the earliest.

Never exit a game. Use the drop option if you score low points.

Incorrect sets or sequences will result in a loss of 80 points!
